Fire officials have confirmed that the Rye Fire now poses no threat to the City of Simi Valley. Based on that information the City's Emergency Operations Center has closed. Fire and Police Department personnel will be closely monitoring the City for potential fire threats throughout forecasted wind events. Please immediately report any suspicious activity observed in brush and wild land interface areas of the City by calling 911.

Crime Prevention

The Crime Prevention Unit administers a number of crime prevention programs developed to reduce the potential of Simi Valley residents, businesses, and visitors from becoming crime victims.

Citizens Academy

The Police Department is proud to offer the Citizens Police Academy to members of the community.  The program is designed to increase understanding of the operational policies and procedures of the Police Department and the Ventura County Criminal Justice System.

HR 218 Firearms Qualification Forms

The Police Department offers Firearms Qualification Certification (HR 218) Instructions for retired sworn Simi Valley Police Department personnel.

Parking Enforcement

Parking violations (i.e. FIRE Hydrant, FIRE Lane, DISABLED Parking Space, WRONG WAY or BLOCKING DRIVEWAY/SIDEWALK), can be reported directly to SVPD Dispatch at (805) 583-6950.  All violations concerning abandoned vehicles, oversized vehicle or trailer parking can be directed to the Traffic Bureau Complaint/Permit Line at (805) 583-6921 or emailed to svpdparking@simivalley.org or complete an Online Parking Complaint Form.  Temporary Parking Permit requests can be directed to the Traffic Bureau Complaint/Permit Line at (805) 583-6921 or emailed to svpdparking@simivalley.org or complete a Temporary Parking Permit Online Request.

Task Force on Heroin Prevention

In February 2012, the City of Simi Valley, Simi Valley Unified School District, and Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District formed the Task Force on Heroin Prevention to develop a focused, aggressive community action plan to help prevent the use of heroin in Simi Valley.

Youth Services

The Youth Services staff forges and maintains an alliance between youth, families, the community, and the Police Department, utilizing teamwork and accountability that provide the necessary tools to assist our youth in becoming mature and responsible citizens.
